Hello everyone, today  i’m doing a comparison between a Moleskine, this is a pocket-sized softcover one and a X 17 Notes in the size a6.

So, let’s start with the most given, as I said, softcover, you can see it’s quite flexible. It’S a soft leather cover that feels quite smooth. It comes with an elastic, strap, a bookmark and then a pocket in the back. The back looks like most going logo right there. It’S 192 pages, this one’s a ruled 6 millimeter ruling, and it’s cream-colored paper.

Let’s check out the writing sample, so here we have a fountain pen, a gel pen, a ballpoint pen and a pencil.

In the back you can see there’s some ghosting and then there is some bleed through with the fountain pen. So it’s not the most fountain pen friendly paper. It used to be better people quality, but now it’s some not really fountain, pen friendly anymore.

The dimensions on this are 9 by 14, centimeters or 3.5 by 5.5 inches and the actual notebook is stitched in bound and it’s made in China.

So the X 17 Notes is  a6 size, so it is 9.8 centimeters by 14.5centimeters or 3.8 inches by 5.7 inches, so let’s take this off this actually made in Germany and it’s a bonded leather cover. So it’s a mix of leather and polymers and here’s the elastic that keeps the actual notebook in place here.

It’s 60 gram paper that it comes with. So it’s quite thin and has bookmark, and then you can actually replace the insert.

So it’s kind of like you have this cover that will last your really long time. I think there’s a 17 year warranty on the actual cover. So that’s a pretty good deal. You get there if anything ever happens to Sydney. Other we’ve got that replaced and then we’re back if Nick’s 17 notes logo – and this is the gray or a graphite color one – that’s called Rose Road skin. The actual notebook has 64 pages. So it’s stapled bound.

Let’s check out the writing sample. Here we have a pencil, a ballpoint pen, a 4 millimeter gel pen and then a 7 millimeter gel pen and then the Pilot  Metropolitan. Do you have fountain pen and there’s a little bit of feathering with the fountain pen.

In the back you have a bit of ghosting and then there’s bleed through with the fountain pen, which is a you know to be expected, because the paper is pretty thinnest At 60, grand paper versus 70 grand paper in the Moleskine, so what’s great about this – is that the refills are quite affordable and you can pretty much put any a 6KY year in this.

Main difference between these two. As I said, this one is refillable, this one is not the dimensions are slightly different, and so you can see Moleskine a little bit shorter and a little bit more narrow,  and then you can see this notebook is quite a bit thinner. But here we have 192 pages, and here you only have 64 pages

So different uses as I said here you can switch. You know, notebooks out, you can use it over and over again the cover it’s a little bit more eco friendly here to buy a new notebook. Every single time, both our notebooks, I think, for onto go this one’s extremely thin and lighter than the Moleskine, so that you and your you know pocket, and you won’t really feel the weight at all.

I think that this is really great for people that love to use Caillou style notebooks like I have right here. Let me show you like it’s another x17 refill, it’s a6, or this is a smaller one. This is actually from this is from Barren Figs. Yes, if you know a staple stitch bare and fake – and this is a staple bound x17 and there’s like you – know, field notes out there and all kinds of other Moleskine had also KYs a sales guy is so any a6 side. KY will fit into this cover.

The cover lies extremely flat, as you can see, and then the actual notebook lies flat as well. So if you’re like KY’s notebooks, i think this is a great one, because i know a lot of people that use them they’re, they fall apart pretty quickly, especially when they you know care them in the pockets and with this cover, i think you have a bit more of a protection on your notebook and there’s different colors available than that, and then you know typical Moleskine king notebook also fits easily in your pocket, and this one didn’t hold up quite this well here felt part of me so . I said well most king quality’s, not as good as it used to be.
