Hello, everyone today, I’m doing a review of this Leuchtturm 1917 Softcover Notebook.
So this is a b5, which means it’s an in-between size and a4 and then a5, and to show you real, quick how it compares to a standard a5 notebook. I have one here so, let’s line those up, as you can see, it is quite a bit bigger than this a5. It’s about an inch, inch and a half and then about an inch on the side here. So it gives you more writing space than the standard a5 notebook.
So the dimensions are 7 by 10 inches or about 18 by 25 centimeters, and this is their slim line, which means it only has 121 pages and all the pages are numbered, and this is a Lion notebook, so let’s check it out.
It comes with an elastic, strap, nice and thick, and it’s taped off the sleeve right here, and this is a navy colored one. I believe it comes in seven different colors and then it has texture on the cover. I think that camera picks this up, comes with two bookmarks and the bookmarks are a little bit thinner than in the hardcover notebooks. I noticed that, but still nice and long.
In the back You have the Leuchtturm 1917 logo and print it. There is round rounded edges right there and you can see a little bit of the imprints from the the elastic hearth there and on the top and the paper lines up nicely with the cover. I just want to show you that real quick.
As I said, it’s soft cover, so it’s quite a bit flexible and bendable, and then it comes with a pocket on the back. That’s reinforced here, fabric, nice, large and all the Leuchtturm Notebooks come with archival stickers. So that’s a nice little touch there and then it has cover page here on the back.
The last eight pages are perforated right there, you can see that and all the pages are numbered just with any moisture my notebook as you can see,.
In the front you open it up. You get the history of loitering right there, a little bit of information and a thank-you card. You can put your name and address right there and each another blank page, and then you have three pages of content right there.
I said it’s 121 pages, it’s six millimeter ruling and the lines go all the way to the edges and they gray my opinion And then every page has a date on top here, which I personally could do without, but doesn’t bother me too much. I don’t think the line other online ones the blank ones. I’ve got just line one.
Let’s show you my writing sample. What I noticed with this notebook is that the paper is lighter and not quite as soft and silky smooth as the one in the in the hardcore ones and I’ll show you that in a second.
So here’s my writing sample here is a pencil, ballpoint pen right. There was your 0.4 millimeter gel pen, 0.7 millimeter gel pen and here’s two fountain pen, Pilote Metropolitan Diamine Marine Ink, and there is a litle bit of feathering as you can see, not to bat just a tad.
It’s an 80 grand paper, it’s supposed to be acid, free and ink proof, and in the back we have some ghosting on her very much all the pens – and I don’t see any bleed through with the fountain Pen, but you can see it’s getting close there so with a little bit broader neighbor winter ink, you might get a wee bit of play through, but so far so good it is fountain pen, friendly paper, I’d, say .
Now let me show you my compares to The paper in the hardcover real, quick, let’s open this up, not sure how much the camera will pick the set that the paper and this one is actually more cream-colored and it is. It feels like nicer quality. It’S silky smooth and this one does not feel as soft and silky. I try to get this in front of the camera, so you can see it and we go and the lines are also more pronounced than in the hardcover. So you can see it is a little bit of a different paper there.
What I noticed in the back is that it says it’s made in China and the heart columns are made in Taiwan. So that’s what a difference comes in, so my guess is that they use different paper than the ones I made in China. It’s not quite as nice. I mean it’s a good paper, but it’s not as great as the one in the in the hardcover ones.
The whole notebook lies pretty flat. As you can see, when you open it up, it’s nice even writing surface and it’s stitched and bound, as you can see right there.
So I think that’s pretty much it on this notebook. I, like the size I like this in between size, because it gives you more writing space. If you want to do drawings and sketches, you know, you have a little bit more room available than the standard a5 notebook, but it’s not as big as a huge a4 that is hard to carry around that, you can’t really fit in any bag, and this is still a portable size. In my opinion, that’s why I personally like this notebook. I wish it had the same amazing paper in it as the hardcover notebooks, as still decent though so just not quite as good.
So those are my two cents on the Leuchtturm 1917 Softcover b5Â Notebook. Thank you so much for watching. If you enjoyed this entry, please give it a thumbs up for a notebook from one notebook. entries subscribe to my BLOG and thank you so much for reading.
