Hello everyone! I really hope you’re doing well. Today I want to talk about how I got back into journaling. If you’ve been a follower of this channel for a long time, you probably realize that I haven’t been posting all that much about journals and journaling in the last couple of years. It’s because I haven’t been writing all that much and using journals all that much. I just felt a slump; I didn’t feel creative, and yeah, I just took a little bit of a break. I journaled sporadically here and there, but I kind of lost my passion a little bit for journaling and also for making YouTube videos.
Reconnecting with Journaling
I never enjoyed all the technical aspects of making these videos. You see, my videos aren’t fancy. What I enjoy the most is just talking to you guys and then getting your feedback and hearing you share your opinions and experiences with journaling. That is actually my most favorite part about making these videos.
In the last 2-3 months, I really got back into journaling. I’ve been using several journals already, mainly pocket notebooks like these guys. I just started picking up a journal one day again, carrying it with me everywhere I go every day, and making lists – to-do lists, random tidbits from YouTube videos, from books, brief journal entries about my day. It really got me back into it, and I’ve been really enjoying it.
Finding Inspiration
What also helped me was watching notebook videos of other people and videos about journaling – how other people journal and their experiences with notebooks, their favorite notebooks, and a lot about pocket notebooks. Watching videos about other people writing got me back into writing as well, and I’ve been really enjoying myself.
Tips for Getting Back into Journaling
If you’re struggling with journaling, I highly recommend getting a little pocket notebook. Nothing fancy, just a couple of bucks, and start carrying it with you everywhere you go. This one’s really old; I just found it around the house from many years ago, and I’ve already beat it up a bit. I just carry a little Bic pen with me everywhere I go and shove it in my pocket. That’s the great thing about a pocket notebook – you can easily take it with you, especially these ones with only 40-50 pages, even easier than a Moleskine, which is harder to fit in a pant pocket or hoodie pocket.
Just grab a little pen, don’t go too fancy, and don’t overwhelm yourself with the pressure of having to write anything of importance in a nice notebook. Just get a cheaper notebook and start writing down whatever – shopping lists, to-do lists, observations from the day, whatever. That got me into starting a regular journal again and writing more. I just started this, so it’s only a few pages that I filled up. This is a leather press leather notebook that is really nice, so I’m enjoying using a nice journal again now because I’ve gotten my feet wet with these little guys taking them everywhere.
